1. Look at the posters that have been produced to promote the Rio 2016 Games and use the link below to view all of the finalists. Create a poster promoting New Zealand (or a country of your choice) if the olympics were to be held there in the future.    Olympic Posters

2. Create your own Olympics Bingo game that can be played with your classmates. You could select a theme or a random collection of Olympic images/words from the games.
Possible themes:  Sporting logos (see example)
    Mascots over the years
    Host Nations/years

3. Use Wordfoto or Wordsalad
to create a word collage for the
Rio 2016 Games.

4. On a large map of the world, label each of the Host nations of the Summer olympics. You need to include the Name of the Host Nations, and the dates. You could create a code so you can use space wisely and read all the labels.

5. For the tourists visiting Rio to attend the Olympic Games, what other activities and destinations nearby would you suggest they visit and why?
Create a brochure or pamphet that they might find at an information centre - that inspires them to explore.

6. Using this image as a model, create your own torch artwork that integrates modern lines.

7. Design your own boardgame for the Olympics.
You will need to plan your ideas first. Consider…
Who will be playing this game?
What are the rules?
How does a player win an  advantage?
What penalties are in place?
Will your design hold the player’s interest?

8. This is a page of statistical information from the London 2012 Olympics. Find out 10-15 facts about the Rio 2016 Olympics that involve numbers, and produce a page of statistics to stun and amaze your class.

Art Project - in class art contract

Time to unlock your creativity. You are going to have fun! You could be the next Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh or maybe Masashi Kishimoto.

You need to complete 3 or more of the following tasks:

1.    A worm’s eye view
Imagine that you are the size of a worm. What would the world look like to you? Everything that is small to us would be BIG. Everything that is big to us would be ENORMOUS. You could either draw the picture, take some photos  or make a video like these that shows a worm’s eye view perspective. These images should be from a low viewpoint, either of objects on the ground, or looking up:

2.   Make a Cartoon of Your Favourite Joke or Short Story
(...but let's make sure you can share it with the the Principal)
Using one of the online sites below make a cartoon strip of your favourite joke or short story. Your  aim is to entertain your audience -  and be wowed with your presentation!
See below for some possible sites to use:
-       Make Belief Comics - This is my favourite.
-    Stripcreator - lots of options on this one.
-       Patent Place - Nice feel and style.
-       Read Write Think - Nice drawing style in this one.
-       Strip Generator - Very interesting style used in this one.
-       Story Creator 2 - For the longer story.

3.    Research an artist and their art.
Choose an artist that you wish to find out more about. Present a poster, powerpoint or slide show on this artist which gives information about their life and the type of art they produced. Include some pictures. You may even want to try and draw or paint in the style of your artist. So if you were to research Masashi Kishimoto you would include a manga style artwork.

4.    Music Album Cover
Choose a song and artist that you really like.  Listen to that piece of music a few times and note down images that come into your mind. Explore what the music means to you. Then illustrate that on an album cover of your own design.

5.    “How to draw cartoons on YouTube.”
Find a how to draw clip on youtube. This link will take you to a “How to draw a minion” clip. httpsw//www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7j0HtINA_k
You can choose what you wish to draw. Follow the instructions and produce the cartoon. Add colour too.

6.   Selfie
Take a black and white photo of yourself.
Add doodles to represent your daydreams

7.    Silhouette of you with melted crayons
Create a silhouette of you onto card (or a small canvas from home) Hot glue the crayons to the top and use a hair drier to melt the crayon.

8.    Sculpture Making

you wish to make.
